Cuisinart 9 cup food processor Review

cuisinart 9 cup food processorThe Cuisinart Cuisinart 9 cup food processor DLC2009 has a bigger feed tube, a medium sized onion or tomato goes in whole. The size of the unit is ideal for couples or small families. Perhaps for larger families the Cuisinart 14 cup food processor unit would be the way to go. It is of essentially the same design as the Cuisinart 9 cup food processor ; however, the blades are not interchangeable between Cuisinart 9 cup food processor and 14 cup version.

What I really like is the redesign of the locking mechanism. In the old unit (the DLC 8 plus) and also some current Cuisinart models,  the locking mechanism is to prevent start up of the machine unless the unit is assembled is controlled by a beam type latch made out of polycarbonate. I think this design is more prone to cracking.  The new unit has a stainless steel beam which when inserted locks the unit.  Cuisinart 9 cup food processor is a great design.

Another great improvement is redesign of the small feed tube. It is now made of polycarbonate.  That material is much more indestructible than whatever lesser plastic was used to design the older small feed tubes.  Drop an old one on the floor and  the locking tabs would break off of it. That is not likely to happen with polycarbonate. The material used to produce canopies for fighter jets,  it is very impact resistant.

On top of everything else this model with the shape of its bowl and cover is much easier to clean than the old model. This is dishwasher safe,  however I would not run this through the dishwasher with fully heated drying cycle.

Cuisinart offers a very wide range of discs (including a julienne, a french fry cutting disc and a fine grater disc) and a whisk attachment for this unit. If you buy a unit from another manufacturer without the range of this unit (made possible by all of the attachments) I think you may have shortchanged yourself.

We do A LOT of cooking in our household. Some 15 years ago, we purchased a food processor and have hated it ever since. It wasn’t a Cuisinart but wasn’t cheap either. In the time it took to put all the parts together, do the work and then clean the thing, we decided we might as well do everything by hand instead. Like I said, that was a long time ago. Obviously things have changed!

In a nutshell….we love the feeding tube size which is large and eliminates the need to precut vegetables prior to slicing. It’s easy to put together and take apart.   Cleaning it is a breeze with the Cuisinart 9 cup food processor! It’s well made and since we were leaving it on the countertop for quick and easy access,  we also appreciate it’s appearance.  Cuisinart 9 cup food processor offers blade holders which are a convenient and safe way to store accessories.
We work hard during the week but still prepare nice meals at the end of the day.  We recognize the time we have saved preparing meals with it.
I have used this for Baby Food pureeing and I love it! It does it all. Some things take longer than other (green beans and peas) but it does the job. Easy stuff like carrots and squash and pears take just seconds. Easy to take apart to clean and love that it’s dishwasher safe so I don’t have to worry about hand washing it myself.

Here’s what one proud owner had to say about this Cuisinart 9 cup food processor.

I did a lot of research for the right food processor for me, and this was my top pick!

First of all, I have used other food processors before and they were not able to make dough (engine not tough enough) and you couldn’t cut something as hard as carrots with it without bending the blade. We even broke the shredding wheel on one of them while trying to shed carrots. The first thing I noticed when I got the Cuisinart 9-cup food processor was that those days were over. The blades are strong and heavy, you can FEEL they won’t break. I have made pizza dough, bread dough in this, as well as chopped potatoes and carrots. Not a problem.

The second thing is that it comes apart very easily, you can hear everything click in place and again when you take it apart so you know when it is ready to go.

Bottom line: if you are going to get a food processor, you will have to spend some money or you will just be wasting your time and getting yourself frustrated.  This machine works wonderfully.  (Run4Fun)

Braun Food Processor Review

The Braun Food Processor Multiquick 3 K-650 is a Braun food processorpowerful machine. The speed control feature is exclusive to this Braun food processor. It’s been only a week since I’ve started using the K-650 but I’m pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of its performance.  I’ve used it for the chopping, slicing, shredding and dough making functions so far and have found the machine to be quiet and amazingly effective in what it does.

The variable speed feature is a brilliant way to minutely control how you want your end product to look like. After using it, I am wondering why other food processor manufactures have not incorporated that in their design. I’ve used the course shredding feature for a big cabbage head to make slaw and got done with shredding in a couple of minutes. The 9 cup bowl is a good size and has a light gray tint to it which will mask scratches which may occur in the inside of the bowl from regular usage. The bowl itself is very easy to clean and is dishwasher safe.

The base is quite light and not obnoxiously too large. It can be easily stored away if you don’t like too many pieces of equipment on your kitchen counter like me. The bowl and lid are very easy to click close and mount on the base which makes KitchenAid and Cuisinart food processor locking functions look elaborate and totally unnecessary.

The juicer insert is an added beneficial feature not available in most food processors and although I generally drink juice out of a carton, this machine inspires me to make my own, especially in summer when citrus fruits are abundantly available. I am ordering the adjustable insert carrier and the course-slicing insert since the thin slicer provided with the machine definitely slices too thin. As many reviewers have already mentioned, the K-650 Braun Food Processor does not look as snazzy as the other variety of food processor but it beats them by its functionality hands-down.

Here are some of the great features of the Braun Food Processor:

The K650 offers an optional adjustable slicing and french fry system. This Braun Food Processor is reasonably priced, quieter, has multiple speeds and is dishwasher safe.  The Braun Multiquick 3 has a large capacity and can hold a large volume of liquid.

This is a great product.  I use it for standard chopping, for sauces and for making pie dough’s. It has a super-strong motor that stands up to the punishment I put it through. Its compact size and it doesn’t leak push the Braun Food Processor ahead of the others.  My toughest test for the unit was my hot water pie-crust. It really doesn’t leak!!!! And the unit handles the dough like a trooper.

I also grate and shred carrots, another tough job.  The Braun Multiquick handles that well too. (I wonder if any of the units are capable of grating those last bits that never seem to manage to get grated.)

There are a few things I wish could be better, but this doesn’t change my high opinion of the product.  Perhaps the blade adapter could be some other color besides white.  The carrots stain it every time, but, thankfully, scrubbing gets the stains out. Also, the carrots put the unit through enough stress that it migrates and needs to be held in place.  My overall assessment: Kudos to Braun for a really good product. Would I buy it or recommend it to a friend? You bet!

Here’s what one of the owners had to say about the Braun Food Processor:

Multiquick 3 K650 Braun Food Processor,

I love this Machine. It’s so super quiet and easy to use I would very much recommend this to my friends and family. I didn’t really want to spend that much money but after reading all the other reviews I took a chance and got it WOW!!! I am so happy I did I am very glad I didn’t waste my money on another loud Kitchen Aid. I do mean Loud, I thought that it might cause hearing loss (no jokes). If you are looking to get the most for your money look no further this baby has it all and more! Quite, easy to use, loads of extra attachment, large bowl to hold 9 cups worth of goodness, very powerful and fast at any task you put in front of it, tons of different speeds (I love that), and did I mention the bowl, it’s one of the best features. It has no opening in the center like most if not all other food processors, that mean if you want to liquefy something (9 cups worth or not) it wont run out the middle like ALL the other ones do. I love this Processor and you will too!  Read more reviews by clicking here!
